"One of the most rewarding elements in working with young people is the character-building component – this is something I truly enjoy more than any other aspect of coaching. To help an individual learn the various qualities necessary to compete at the highest level in sport is truly a joy for me, as I know that they are also essential to dealing with the ups and downs in every day life.
A Taste of My Technical Teachings
The following info-graphic is an excerpt from a National Post article detailing my technique for a great serve:
Build Your Game - Build Your Character
When it comes to the technical side of tennis, I have always felt that teaching the various tennis strokes to an individual is relatively easy. What I enjoy most about Coaching however, is helping young people learn the character skills needed to deal with the challenges of every day life. I work with our students to not only build a world class tennis game, but to set them up for success in all their future endeavors - both on and off the court.
For those who desire to compete at the highest levels of tennis, here are the four necessary criteria:
The athletic ability needed to perform the skill sets necessary at the highest level - a combination of natural talent and hard work.
2. Desire for Excellence
Many individuals possess good athletic ability but what sets the great ones apart is their internal desire to be excellent.
Athletes striving for the highest performance level will be called upon to make important decisions during the long and challenging trip to the top, both on and off the court.
Sportsmanship and a respect for the game, your coach, team-mates and fellow competitors.
